Most hand-held gunpowder weapons possess bonuses to their accuracy. This can be attributed to the exceptional muzzle velocity these types of ranged armaments possess. Contrasted with mastering the complexities of the bow, becoming proficient in gunpowder weapons requires far less time and effort. Consequently, armies with the resources to obtain them will field a significantly greater number of musketeers compared to traditional bowmen. Muskets are routinely equipped with a bayonet, which serves as the equivalent of a short sword for thrusting attacks or a dagger for slicing maneuvers.
Muskets are black powder-propelled ranged weapons that produce a considerable amount of noise and smoke when discharged. The majority of muskets currently in use are Type 2 long guns, which inflict 1-12 hit points of damage, with an additional d12 of damage dealt when a roll of "11" or "12" is achieved. Muskets confer a +1 bonus to hit.
There are some type 1 long guns in circulation. These first-generation muskets are now considered outdated. They have a tendency to misfire and inflict less damage (d10 with no to-hit bonus).
