A ribcage is an open steel structure with two fighting decks featuring wooden or dacite-paneled parapets. They typically measure 24' in height, with fighting decks situated at 10' and 20'. Access to the two decks is facilitated by wooden ramps that can be pulled up to the deck above. The bottom level, or the deck of the ship, is generally an open area, enabling the crew to move about with ease.
The Pillar of Horns features six distinct ribcages, denoted as Ribcage Alpha through Alpha Foxtrot.
Each of these defensive towers, measuring 30 feet square and standing 25 feet tall, are a latticed framework of iron decks, catwalks, bridges, palisades, and fighting platforms. During times of conflict, fifteen soldiers are stationed at each of these formidable positions. This complement includes two mages, a healer, eight marines armed with crossbows, and five individuals responsible for reloading, hurling javelins and spears, or wielding pikes and halberds against any enemy attempting to breach the two decks of the ribcage. Additionally, the ribcages house four ballistae, weapons too cumbersome and with excessive recoil for even a giant to operate without being mounted.
