Ilagandam was established by colonists from Urbal Nabad. It served as an aboveground haven for the citizens of Urbal Nabad seeking respite from the shadows of Aerruxa, as well as a hub for surface trade.

By the fifth century of the Lith-Crillion Era, Ilagandam and Urbal Nabad were commercial adversaries. Numerous individuals in Ilagandam perceived Urbal Nabad as the "filthy underbelly." The rampant criminality, graft, and gangs operating out of the countless abandoned mines below appeared to permeate upwards to the surface.
