Char T'riss is a legendary dagger forged by the renowned drow smith Lael'mol. It was created during a time when the Khazarkar Empire was expanding westward and exploring the Underdark regions beneath Cinazan. The dagger was made as an attempt to establish some form of friendship or at least delay the Khazarkar's influence and domination of Ghaundan. It was presented as a gift to Setarch Sînê Kalamragân, the reigning high priest and lord of the Khazarkar Empire. Unbeknownst to its creator, the dagger was cursed during the forging process at the Vayas'vyr Ghaundan. This curse manifested a year later when one of the Setarch's playthings carelessly used the dagger during a sexual encounter. Ghostly vipers sprang forth from the blade, striking the Setarch four times. The virulent venom of Char T'riss proved so potent that his healers were unable to save him. News of the leader's passing spread quickly through the Khazarkar palace, which was then secured by the Akumîlû. In accordance with custom, the baton of leadership passed to the next highest priest of the Pharzîmrâth. Meanwhile, at Ghaundan, the smith Lael'mol disappeared without a trace, presumably eliminated by someone tying up loose ends.

The dagger of Char T'riss is forged from the fangs of a deep dragon. It is a +5 dagger imbued with speed, wounding, and spectral vipers, and is no longer cursed.
