The knell cannon is constructed from the chitinous bell found on knell beetles. The initial knell cannons were engineered by Gimrune technicians working for Ba'lith's military research division.
Knell cannons are an advanced version of ancient Auhtai cannons. Both types utilize a sonic energy technology known as Päiki-Synhö. The knell cannon is a shorter-range weapon that generates a devastating sound wave. These cannons require no ammunition but are limited in the number of times they can fire per day. A knell cannon can fire safely up to five times; each subsequent discharge carries a 10% cumulative chance of shattering the bell and destroying the weapon. The weapon's 30-foot conical blast deals 10d6 sonic damage, with a Reflex save (DC 22) for half damage.
