Cibothrâr is a geothermal swamp situated within the Northern Hordelands. This wetland is fed by the melting snow, glaciers, and abundant rainfall that characterize the region. The cold waters flowing into the swamp converge with the boiling, smoking pools of a highly active geothermal zone. The landscape is dotted with geysers and small volcanic cones. The most violent eruptions occur when the water levels rise to a height where they flow into the volcanic cones, producing towering jets of steam thousands of feet high. At times, the pressure builds to such a degree that the volcanic mounds explode in a thunderous roar, startling the numerous herds of animals and other beasts that come to the area for water or to hunt.
