The mountain slopes of Nalbirag, the sole source of gold ore for the western reaches of Ice Cap, are dotted with abandoned structures, old forts and keeps, and hundreds of defunct mines, a testament to the region's long mining history. Gold extraction commenced with the establishment of the Haag-Bre citadel. However, when this stronghold was forcibly annexed by the Gadstill Dynasty (275 HE - 1533 HE), the gold supply was redirected to the conqueror's capital.
In the Second Epoch, the region was the epicenter of the Nalbirag Gold War.
