Skurd is one of three rivers that form the headwaters of the river Rute. Skurd was formed when Hel activated the northern Temple of Begnhidrir. The ignition of the fires within this ancient demon temple commenced the melting of the eerie blue ice and snow of the encroaching Ice Cap. These eternal flames have burned for millennia and continue to erode the glacial flows that perpetually advance towards Begnhidrir.
The narrow valley leading into Begnhidrir and then to the northern Temple of Begnhidrir sits at the head of Skurd. This valley is adorned with ancient, grotesque statues of female demons, predating even the demon temples situated in the valley beyond.
