Built

The Ossicles was constructed during the reign of the First Dead Council. It is built from the bones of the dead - soldiers and civilians killed in the Black Tide War (1465 - 1486). These were broken bones and skulls that could no longer be used for creating skeletal undead. These useless bones were transported to Zayr and other ports under Black Tide control, then shipped back to Gathrot and overland again to Phanêthil. In this location, they were utilized in the building of Katrana's palace, The Ossicles.

In 1711, the Last Saints of Gûn infiltrated Katrana's palace. They stealthily entered The Ossicles using arcane magic, executing an assassination plot conceived five years prior. Katrana was slain by weapons coated in a liquid known as the Sweat of Danzar-Khâl, a sacred elixir that prevented her from locating her phylactery for 99 years. During this period, her unholy essence drifted aimlessly, brooding with rage, though she could still communicate with her undead servants and other minions, whose obedience often wavered without someone present to enforce her directives.

This three-hundred-foot-long, two-hundred-foot-high bone structure is anchored by colossal stone towers and encircled by fortified walls. Serving as Phanêthil's principal palace, it is guarded against diverse forms of magical intrusion through the use of protective spells.
