Turnîrâth is a river valley branching off from the southern slopes of the Elephant Backbone. The valley extends from these mountains southwest to the coasts, flanked by a hilly jungle. Thousands of werebadgers have inhabited this region since the 15th century. During a period of civil unrest known as the Shifter Separation, many more werebadgers sought refuge in Turnîrâth. The arrival of "city-types" from Free Tooth amidst the Wildling werebadgers of the valley initially caused some disruption, but over the course of a generation, many of the city-dwellers reverted to their wilder nature.

The valley is traversed by the river Ilarorn. Flanking this are gently undulating hills and pockets of dense, lush jungle. Beneath the surface of this region are numerous tunnels and extensive underground warrens, which serve as the abodes of werebadgers. Some of these subterranean passages connect to Sakal and then extend further to Mauleg.
