Tyermur is a marshy realm located north of the Trudnar mountains. It is bounded to the east by the Glumgard river and to the west by the Nárfaltuin forest. Tyermur is a grim place with unconsecrated ground, zones devoid of magic, and a multitude of undead entities. The unsettling quiet of the region is periodically shattered by tempests of shrieking winds. These winds, known as the Dream Howling, are believed to be the anguished cries of thousands of elves slain during the sack of Lorthrindal's capital city.
In 1834, the Battle of Tyermur was fiercely fought in this location. This engagement was part of the larger Lich Front conflict. In this devastating battle, thousands of elves, Tragarans, hobgoblins, and undead perished. Sadly, many of the fallen were never recovered, trampled, crushed, and pressed into the marshes by both allies and enemies. Numerous more were lost to quicksand, bogs, or taken by monsters. As a result of these horrific events, agonizing deaths, and dark magic, the central regions of Tyermur are now haunted by the restless spirits and ghosts of the fallen.
