The development of this drug emerged from the hardships faced by the people of Boletus at the hands of the neighboring city-states Neben-Skerah and Zoethall. In 1698 HE, Boletus chemists devised a method of administering an inert drug through worms, which would then be passed on to warm-blooded creatures. They subsequently addicted the inhabitants of Neben-Skerah and Zoethall to Boletus's specialized worms, a foodstuff ostensibly known as Lir'frod Meat.
The alchemist who developed this drug designated it EQ13-Mycel. It was one of numerous formulations explored prior to devising a compound that would compel the surrounding populace to treat Boletus's people with equity and impartiality. Users of this drug bestowed upon it a more apt moniker - Boletus Chain.
Inert State
The drug's state is altered when transported by the Gall Worms of Adunamar.
Active State
This state is attained when a warm-blooded creature consumes a portion of the worm. The drug preserves the meat, persisting even if boiled or charred.
Addiction Rating
The Boletus Chain possesses a considerable addiction rating. Following two consecutive failed Fortitude checks (DC17), the individual who has consumed it becomes afflicted by addiction, requiring a fix to alleviate the onset of withdrawal symptoms.
