Guetol was established by the Shou warlord Ejigez. This skilled kensai warrior was an exceptional sea captain, bolstering her city's power through mastery of the maritime trade routes and Kalaran's waterways.

Guetol was the second city to join the Shounejo empire. Unlike other territories, the city was not conquered during the wars to unify the Shou lowlands of Kalaran under a central power. Instead, it aligned with the empire as an equal partner, with a treaty specifying that governance would alternate between Zujukiz and Guetol.

Guetol is one of the most expansive and active seaports within the region of Amachan. The city additionally serves as the home for the naval garrison of the Dazi Tetzezan.
