Emelach was a formidable black dragon of the Horgon Era. For three centuries, he dominated the entirety of the Aerie of Dragons, exacting tribute and suppressing progress and mobility.

When the Durkoth of the Spire of Neld-Rac arrived in Bal-Kriav (862 HE), they were formidable and disinclined to negotiate with what they perceived as a talking flying lizard. Their leader Neld-Rac went to parley with the dragon, only to be met with a gout of dragon acid that felled half his guards. Neld-Rac teleported back into the Spire and prepared his people to confront the dragon through ruse rather than direct combat the next time. When Emelach emerged again, the Durkoth had the area on high alert, with camouflaged troops hidden around a pile of shiny baubles and coins they had demanded as tribute. Emelach took position under this heap, unaware that the Spire's anchoring devices - used to latch onto objects in the Void - were readied to fire upon the dragon's great bulk. Overconfident, Emelach fell into the trap, becoming grounded by the Spire's anchors before being assailed by hundreds of Durkoth soldiers and Neld-Rac. Emelach was not killed, but bludgeoned into unconsciousness, with enemy healers on hand to stabilize him after the brutal encounter. Emelach was then taken inside the Spire, where Neld-Rac and his medical staff studied and experimented on him.

Emelach vanished without a trace. Some speculate that whatever malevolent force emerges from the Spire of Neld-Rac in the present day is the handiwork of a reanimated Emelach, now lurking within the Spire's medical facilities.
