This island is perpetually enveloped in a dense fog. The majority of the approaches to the island must be traversed through narrow channels obstructed by coral reefs. The thick fog shrouding the island renders navigation through these channels exceedingly arduous.
Pirates and merchant salvaging companies frequently embark on forays into the treacherous waters surrounding the Masked Island. Regrettably, many end up as additional junk and wrecks that litter the island's shores. During the Great Exodus (998 - 1017), several ships and their entire crews were lost to the island's perilous reefs and shoals. One of these ill-fated vessels is rumored to have been carrying a number of the leaders of the Niratar Theocracy.
The remote Masked Island is inhabited by primitive tribal communities and a small number of dragons. The surrounding coral reefs conceal a multitude of perils, including formidable brain coral colonies, reef sharks, and perilous jellyfish that pose grave risks to swimmers or shipwrecked vessels.
