The Buccaneer Archipelago is a vast chain of over twenty thousand islands stretching from the shores of Hells Womb in the north, to the coasts of Ma'Ohari to the southeast and those of Izagunbar to the west. Situated at the convergence of trade routes from three seas - the Sea of Mourning to the east, the Pearl Sea to the west, and the strait of Salzârrâk in the south - the archipelago became a strategic location during the Creation War ( 1486 DE - 8777 DE ) . While aligned with the primordials, Thjorygg's galleys lurked among the islands, intercepting Covenant transports and launching daring coastal raids on what is now known as the Lands of Purity.

In the Demon Spawn War ( 89 GE - 269 GE ) , the Buccaneer Archipelago served as the hunting ground for demon pirates and their enslaved crews. These rogue demon captains, often wanted by their former demon lord masters, became their own sovereigns, leading to the Buccaneer saying "in a world big enough for everyone to have a slice."

In the Horgon Era, the ascent of the Abâthigûr Empire, Mir'piamauza, and other powers, reignited piracy with Deep Bred, Sussgurd, Durkoth, and Gradorian pirates seeking their share through unlawful enterprise.

In the Great Exodus ( 998 - 1017 ) , numerous pirate outposts were transformed into nascent settlements and emerging city-states. Seized vessels were retained, and their passengers were ransomed at low cost, with some electing to remain in this region of breathtaking splendor.

The most beautiful isles of the realm, idyllic and bountiful with the bounty of the sea, diverse in culture, and an element of peril, with pirates, sahuagin, and sea monsters as massive as a frigate. In the city of Sûreg, blissful slumber arrives with the Siren's Call, each town, hamlet, and inlet brimming with captivating tales.
