This strait is often referred to as the Minotaur Inlet. The minotaurs of Ba'lith consider it their territory, as they are one of the more powerful empires in the region. Others claim the name stems from the shape of a smaller area along the eastern coasts of Athoreon, where the bays of Phedumarras and Nebezedel resemble horns jutting into the Straiden mainland when viewed from the sky. The sea's official name is Salzârrâk, which is the term used by those outside of Ivory Asylum.

Elderaunt seafarers assert that ancient Lith-Crillion charts depict this ocean bearing the designation Salzârrâk. As steadfast traditionalists concerning maritime matters, elderaunts typically preserve the original nomenclature of locations on their maps, even if the term has fallen out of common parlance.

The seabed of Salzârrâk is strewn with a profusion of wrecks, surpassing that of any other seafloor in the realm. These remnants date back to the ongoing conflicts between the Ivory Asylum and Ba'lith, tracing as far as the Creation War (1486 DE - 8777 DE).

The expansive reef of Midrêth lies within this strait. Known as the Teeth of Aerdresh, it has long functioned as a formidable natural safeguard for the inhabitants of Pipe Home.
