Globules of Arcane are fragments that have splintered off during the harvesting of Spheres of Arcane. Instead of being a solid form, these globules consist of pure arcane energy. Similar to Spheres of Arcane, they originate from the Cubes of Arcane.
Harvesting a Sphere of Arcane for Orbs of Arcane will yield 100 to 400 Globules of Arcane. These swiftly coalesce into a wavering sphere with the consistency of mercury, gradually hardening over weeks into something akin to an ostrich egg. They can be utilized as weapons, releasing all their contained energy on impact and raining a detrimental dust upon all magic. More crucially for arcanists, they can serve as vessels of readily accessible arcane energy.
A full-sized Globule of Arcane contains 30 spell levels of energy. This can be utilized by an arcane caster to recover previously cast spells. Each time it is employed in this manner, the Globule diminishes in size and its energy potential declines. Once it reaches 1 spell of use before vanishing, some opt to preserve what now resembles a modest pearl. It is then used for decoration or incorporated into a trinket or piece of jewelry. As a display of vanity and immense affluence, the wizard-governors of Tamlêrran don necklaces adorned with 6 to 12 such Globules.
The hurled Globule of Arcane inflicts 2 hit points of damage per spell level remaining within it. A fully charged Globule delivers 60 hit points of arcane damage (without magic armor - Reflex save DC 20 for half, with magic armor - Reflex save DC 30 for half). The area of effect is a 5-foot globe. Upon impact, it releases dead magic dust that nullifies the magical properties of all magic items on the affected targets until it is removed (jumping in water removes it immediately, spending 4 rounds brushing it off, or being in an area of strong wind will remove it in one round). The dust becomes inert after 4 hours.
