The Mark of Talos is a vast crevasse that begins in Badmaer and extends through numerous Underdark regions. This unusual area was formed during the Dawn Era with the birth of a primordial storm giant named Talos. He was blessed on an altar of gloomstar and then assailed for twenty days by a powerful lightning storm. The continuity of this storm was maintained by 26 Primordial minions with the abilities of arcane hierophants. The lightning pulverized the ice and stone of the surface, taking on a life of its own as Talos grew from a baby to an oversized adult storm giant. As he developed, the living lightning storm around him carved out a canyon, with the altar remaining aloft by a continuous stream of electricity. As the storm plunged deeper underground, its energy was absorbed by Talos, leading to the narrowing of the canyon and the formation of smaller crevasses descending into the Underdark. On the final day, the living lightning storm was absorbed by Talos, granting him his formidable lightning powers. During the storm, Talos became fused with the altar of gloomstar, and some theologians believe this is the source of his remarkable regenerative abilities.

The Mark of Talos extends from one mile to four miles in width at the summit, yet as it progresses downward, it tapers to stone shelves several hundred feet thick. Each of these shelves hosts a number of diminutive crevices that delve into the profound depths of the Underdark. Through the surface, a colossal aerial entity could descend downward across three Underdark realms. The Mark of Talos measures 28 miles long at its apex, constricting to a crack merely inches wide at twenty miles below.

The entirety of the canyon and all the smaller ones beneath serve as a Focus for Lightning. This enhances all electrical spells, increasing their potency by 25% and raising their DC by 4.
