Badmaer is the Underdark region situated beneath the Ice Cap. The Damazandal is the most significant and historically notable river in this Underdark domain. In Year 89, some of Malad-Mîn's displaced refugees utilized this river to reach the Unaraggumak region. These dwarves subsequently made their way to the surface (in what would later be known as the Clans region) and ultimately established the kingdom of Phlehorn.
One of the largest empires of this dark realm is Gamakkhazar. The Azwyr Amoruk of this confederacy continually battle against other Underdark races and wage war with the dwarves of Brisingr.
Badmaer is just as frigid and perilous as the terrain above it. The region shares the same azure ice found in Ice Cap and a chilly sea that remains frozen for the majority of the year. When the sea is solidly frozen, merchants utilize its expanse to travel to other commercial hubs, and warlike groups employ it to launch raids against their adversaries.
