When Malad-Mîn fell, her people split into two groups. One group went to the subterranean hold of Nûl-Bazân, the other west into the icy vales of Khalas. Those of the latter became known as the Brisingr. For nearly five centuries, they had a government along the lines of their fore-bearers (c.f. Khazir-Mizir). In the Year 503, they adopted a federalist government. It represents the racial groups of the nation along with the interests of Brisingr's territorial governments.
Brisingr enjoys prosperous trade ties with the community of Icyke and the formidable Deep Six. The empire's common adversaries encompass the Frost Giant tribes, the menacing Gamakkhazar, and the region's numerous Goliath tribes.
