Set within the glacial vale of Khalas, Azudushmanam was established to safeguard the quarries that yield the region's distinctive blue-and-white speckled stone, a material highly prized across the dominions of the fallen Malad-Mîn. Fortified to repel giants and the occasional white dragon, the site evolved into a citadel encircled by deep earthworks and subterranean defenses designed to thwart incursions by the Gamakkhazar.
Following the collapse of Malad-Mîn during the Mulinburam War, Azudushmanam remained uninhabited for a period of two years before settlers returned to establish the kingdom of Brisingr, designating the citadel as its prominent capital.
For generations, Azudushmanam has served as the spiritual citadel of the Church of Naraz-Nâru, cultivating warrior-priests, combat healers, and ecclesiastical officers; its ecclesiastical leaders are revered as among the most esteemed within Naraz-Nâru's hierarchy.
