A Lith-Crillion, Kebechet is the daughter of Anubis. Their familial relationship was quite rare for their race. It stemmed from Anubis's interest and study of tight-knit families. As the researcher became too close to his subjects, he applied the concept to himself, seeking to observe how his own Lith-Crillion people might function under the influence of family bonds. Anubis's mastery of soul energy reportedly enabled him to imbue a newborn in a Birthing Pond aboard the Crillion Comet with some of his own traits. Unlike others from these ponds, Kebechet's unique connection to her father resulted from Anubis's deliberate tampering.
They generate more of their kind within these ponds of mystical ichor. Copulation occurs in the pond. The newborn's growth also takes place here, outside the body of what we would consider the mother. There is something about these ponds that alters the composition of those who mature in them; their bodies become hardened to the hazards of the Void. Until their usage, generations aboard the confined Lith-Crillion had grown frail and sickly.
Tyr'moch, of the Marching Twenty - "Birthing Vat"
When Anubis perished in combat against the primordials, his ability to guide the souls of the departed into the afterlife transitioned to Kebechet. She ensures the soul energy of the deceased is not diverted from their journey to one of the Soul Gathering Systems.
On the side of both the Nawirrûs Covenant and its successor, the Quara'tun Covenant, Kebechet collaborated closely with Hades, directing soul energy to its intended destination.
In the reign of the First Khazarkar Empire (346 - 1027), the Church of Kebechet was one of the empire's foremost religious institutions. However, when the Eldritch Conclave rose to prominence, the church's influence declined rapidly as its temples were plundered, excessively taxed, and its adherents accused of fabricated offenses.
The esteemed Queen Drasee disseminated the teachings of Kebechet into the hallowed Aerie of Dragons in the year 1002. Within the illustrious Zomaar Yelvaad, she commissioned the construction of a grand cathedral dedicated to her revered patron deity.
During the Eldritch Civil War (1017 - 1027), followers of the Church of Kebechet were betrayed by those of the Church of Set. By the war's conclusion, the Church of Set had gained dominance over the newly formed Second Khazarkar Empire. They established a theocratic government, issuing a decree prohibiting the worship of any deity other than Set. After enduring prolonged persecution under the Church of Set, the Khazarkar worshipers of Kebechet fled southward into the Sands of Hell, where they founded a sanctuary of free worship. This group became known as the Cinazan Sect, centered in the city of Khimilêth.
On the 9th of Kindle in the year 1502, having acquired a sizable and powerful following, Kebechet ascended to the rank of Lesser Power. With this transformation, she gained the ability to reveal the secrets behind the creation of undead-hunting creatures known as the Beasts of Ditherra. The spells required to conjure or summon these creatures are entrusted solely to her high priests.
On 31 Witchrite 1600, Kebechet joined The Balance.
Kebechet is an adversary of necromancy, her purpose being the prevention of undead creation. Thasmudyan, the so-called God of the Undead, is her most formidable foe.
