The vast territory of Cinazan is bordered by the surrounding regions of Miradelgûn, Grashakh, Tribe Steppes, and the Ice Cap. This land serves as the central domain of the largest empire on the continent of Brucrumus, the mighty Khazarkar Empire.
During the Horgon Era and into the First Epoch, vast tracts of Cinazan were dominated by the giants. The most notable examples of giant architecture can be found at Arnogrygg, Fjorstaki, and Garaldrarg. Presently, the giants have congregated on the sky-island of Gindinâth, Thurnâtha, and within the Fangs of Steirgar.
The First Khazarkar Empire arrived in this region during the Domination Wars ( 995 - 1016 ) . They fled the area of Gulimbor on every ship they had, and continued to return as long as it was safe, to evacuate their people from the so-called Gulimbor Cataclysm ( 996 - 1203 ) . An empire of refugees settled along the eastern coasts of Skegjold. Their first major settlement was the port city of Bandunazân. From 1027 to 1620, with the founding of Aphalê, they expanded westward, subjugating or destroying those they encountered. Their territorial expansion was halted at the river Alarthand by the Orchish Empire.
During the early portion of the First Epoch, Cinazan possessed merely two sophisticated empires: the Nermanis Syndicate and the Gilraen Oligarchy. Approximately four decades following the collapse of the Nermanis Syndicate, its former halflings resided in minor enclaves across central Cinazan. When the Khazarkar commenced settling in these areas, rather than engage in conflict, they did what halflings excel at: assimilating into the society of others.
In the elven tongue, this area is known as the "Land of Lights", a reference to the constant radiance emanating from two of the region's wonders: the Shards of Takarrûs and the Kernsking Koils.
The area names of Cinazan often possess dual designations - one from the era when giants dominated the region during the Titan Era, and another more recent appellation bestowed by the Khazarkar Empire. This renaming of locales to words of the imperial tongue is a common practice stemming from the empire's cultural dominance policies.
The subterranean expanse beneath Cinazan is known as Faeglor.
