In the early stages of what many in the north refer to as the Titan Era, the fire giants of the Borngring Wastes waged war against the Volgads. The Lava Flood War ( 110 HE - 125 HE ) culminated in the fall of the Volgads' capital, Imrik. However, the victors' triumph was short-lived, as they soon turned their swords against one another. This escalation was instigated by one of the fire giant heroes who had distinguished themselves during the Siege of Imrik - Kelksorli. In his own autobiographical account, Kelksorli attributed this brutal internecine conflict to the blessing of Surtur.

After two decades of intrigue, deception, subterfuge, and conflict, Kelksorli had risen to the esteemed position of Master of the Fangs, a title not held since the era of Steirgar. Towards the close of the very same year, 145 HE, he was formally acknowledged as the First King of Hofthorm, a name paying homage to a legendary fire giant champion ( Hofthorm Plate ) .

Another notable ruler was King Asmorgerd. He governed Hofthorm from 745 HE to 760 HE. He was exiled after it was discovered he had fallen under the influence of Glangveif agents, one of his most adored concubines. The exiled king and a retinue of minions fled southward out of Cinazan into Grashakh's central highlands, where they constructed the grand bastions of Krarthjar and Kangjald.

King Hlimi was the final sovereign of Hofthorm. He had five sons, the Princes of Hlimi. When the king was assassinated by his eldest son, the remaining princes took up arms, partitioning the empire into the Hlimi Kingdoms.

At its peak, the realm of Hofthorm encompassed a vast domain, spanning the lands of Kazra, the formidable Fangs of Steirgar, and reaching into the heart of Thurnâtha. Their most formidable adversary was the frost giant empire of Glangveif. These two colossal powers, the Hofthorm and Glangveif, engaged in a protracted conflict that raged for centuries. In the 31st year, the Glangveif empire was ultimately vanquished by the triumphant armies of Hofthorm.
