In the God Era, one of the forces serving under the Covenant general Naraz-Nâru was the Mîmêk Army. During the Demon Spawn War (89 GE - 269 GE), this elite unit conducted operations across Unaraggumak and other subterranean realms of Bal-Kriav.
With the Angelic Departure (270 GE - 274 GE), the Mîmêk were compelled to forge their own path. They ascended the ancient war tunnels to the Maziggandîm Region, where in 270 GE, nestled within the Tazundurka valley, they established the settlement of Tarband-Khâl.
In 348 LE, the Mîmêk encountered the Lith-Crillion. Both groups shared an interest in a specialized region north of Tarband-Khâl. The area of focus, the ancient structure Nemexus, was territory of Tarband-Khâl, which they were unwilling to share with the Lith-Crillion. When diplomacy failed, the Maziggandîm Conflict (348 LE - 355 LE) ensued.
Yearning to explore the depths, an irresistible allure compels me, as my family and friends have all departed, leaving behind a once-bustling city of 30,000, with only a few of us remaining. The majority have relocated to Unaraggumak. Radiating outward from Dushinbal are a growing number of holdings and settlements.
It is not sinister murmurs, but an innate longing akin to hunger or thirst that compels me to join my brethren in Unaraggumak's dark expanses.

The growing power of their Lith-Crillion adversaries, coupled with malevolent influences emanating from Munarkûn, led the Mîmêk to abandon their surface settlements. The Mîmêk descended into the dark reaches of Unaraggumak, heading for deep mining towns and holds traditionally occupied only by rotating workers. In the darkness of Unaraggumak, a millennium of diabolical influence took hold. Agents of Baalzebul spread the word of their masters, initiating a new era of worship. Diabolical pacts irrevocably transformed the Mîmêk, once Turkûn, gradually evolving into a new dwarven sub-race called the Duergar. From Turkûn to Duergar, they became leaner, their skin and hair turning a dull, stone-like gray. Some lost all their hair, while others had it replaced by spiny quills. Tainted by diabolical forces, they gained enhanced stealth, alertness, spell-like abilities, and an immunity to paralysis, phantasms, and certain poisons.
The Duergar of the world Bal-Kriav are largely descendants of the Mîmêk Army, and are known more specifically as the Mîmêk. Originating from the lands of Khelan, the Mîmêk have expanded to distant realms via the Earth Seam.
