In 901, the hallowed monarchy of Phlehorn exiled 2,000 hardened criminals. Destined for a remote prison, the condemned dyed their beards crimson, a symbol of their solidarity against their oppressors, earning them the moniker "Bloodbeards." Acting on the orders of the King, who had fallen under the sway of a demonic artifact, the prisoners were magically teleported to an ancient ruin named Hezvix. By 906, gang leaders-turned-governors had established a ruling council, the oligarchy of Umahanbad.
The Umahanbad territory spans the southern fringes of the Giant Steps and delves into the darkened realms below. Their insatiable appetite for land and resources is fiercely contested by the colossal giants, the belligerent hordes of hobgoblins, and the formidable Orchish Empire.
During the Black Tide War ( 1465 - 1486 ) , a contingent of 20,000 Bloodbeards served under the Black Tide general Pinth Blackstrike in the army group Kazurâg-Gulan.
Umahanbad is a slave empire where solely Turkûn are exempt from enslavement. Half of the empire's 200,000 slaves are citizens serving out their sentences; one is not considered a Bloodbeard until they have borne the designation 'slave'.
In the Grashakh Front, for their assistance in seizing Gúluzgash, the Bloodbeards claimed possession of the essential trade and military bridge of Mazandabad.
