In the Horgon Era, the settlement of Sodlund was established by the Glangveif (314 HE - 31). It served as a discreet base for warlocks investigating an artifact called Onaidred's Quill.

In 1648 HE, facing certain doom from a hobgoblin army and their devilish war maiden, the inhabitants turned to Onaidred's Quill for aid. The attacking army and everything beyond the city's walls for many miles were consumed by an unnatural glacier thereafter known as Nym-Zoedine. This strange, icy phenomenon proved a boon for the city, as ice homes were carved out for the empire's cold-loving peoples, and it became a site of rich resources and treasure-seekers searching for the relics of Zoedine's frozen army.

In the year 1885 HE, witnessing the waning of the crown's power, Sodlund seceded from the Glangveif Monarchy, transforming into a sovereign city-state.

In the year 1206, surrounded by the menace of burgeoning states such as the Orchish Empire, Sodlund allied with the Umahanbad Oligarchy.
