This rod is forged from one of the quills of the deceased primordial Onaidred. This creature was a serpentine monstrosity covered in numerous quills and bony ridges along its entire length. During the Demon Spawn War, Set returned to the area where he and his Covenant team had slain Onaidred. Amidst Onaidred's hardened remains, Set and Dispater forged the first and most powerful magical item ever crafted, now known as Onaidred's Remains. At the time, Dispater and Set were members of the Quarat'un Covenant. However, the rules against using primordial remains to fashion magical items made Dispater hesitant to assist Set. Asmodeus is said to have advised Dispater, "There will be a reckoning, and we will need all the allies we can get." Trusting Asmodeus's wisdom, Dispater lent his aid in the enchantment, providing a specialized Soul Engine to power the rod. The magical abilities of this rod mirror those once wielded by the primordial Onaidred.
In the Horgon Era, the warlocks of Glangveif came into possession of Onaidred's Quill. Faced with an 8,000-strong army, they recognized that if they did not utilize the device, Sodlund would fall. The warlocks empowered the device with the soul energy of a thousand enslaved individuals. This action froze the advancing army in a colossal unnatural glacier, henceforth known as Nym-Zoedine.
