The Mazandabad Bridge traverses the Foronir River, with the crags and tunnels of Typhalumus visible to the east and the ancient, highly coveted timber of Laucentar to the west. Situated south of the bridge lies the Sorrow Pass, a historic route for both commerce and conflict. The current Mazandabad Bridge is the third iteration of a structure spanning the region's most secure river crossing, yet one characterized by immense power and unpredictability.

The First Bridge - Iron Vale Crossing

The first bridge was constructed by the Covenant during the Demon Spawn War (89 GE - 269 GE). Crafted with a delicate touch, they laid the anchors that would serve as the unshakable foundation for all subsequent bridges. Constructed from celestial materials, the bridge's base was rendered impervious to destruction by force or magic.

When Sorrow Pass was captured by the forces of Demogorgon, the naval forces of Thjorygg were divided. The southern vessels relentlessly harassed the demonic advance along the Foronir, while the northern ships defended Iron Vale Crossing. With the demons perilously close to seizing the bridge, the remnants of Thjorygg's northern river fleet were employed as explosive traps, ultimately destroying the crucial crossing.

The Second Bridge - Demogorgons Toe

Contested, fiercely fought battles ensued between the Covenant and the Demogorgon. Gradually, rafts, ropes, and the foundations of a bridge were transported across. Following the Demon Spawn War, with no established civilization in the region to sustain the ominous structure known as Demogorgons Toe, it eroded away under the influence of seasonal thaws.

The Third Bridge - Mazandabad

In the Second Epoch, the Orchish Empire rebuilt the bridge. It offered a path to harvest Laucentar's steely pines, reducing the cost of trade crossing the perilous river. To assuage the concerns of neighboring communities about its potential use for attacks, the nearby city of Naram-Gunal was granted naming rights and other privileges.
