The Maze Furnace, a Godforge, is the pivotal forge of the Tas'dvr Mout Foundry.
This celebrated forge was captured by Raxcvillibus during his third expedition to the Hells system (1521 - 1530). At the time, he was serving under Asmodeus. Together, they warred with the abyssal lord Baphomet. In the Battle of Kurdire, Rax's army of devils seized the enemy's castle and plundered the Maze Furnace. This included an anvil, slack tub, bellows, hammers, fullers, chisels, and an oven. All of these items were transported back to Nessus and presented to Asmodeus. When Apoxlin's Sentence (1485 - 1683) concluded, Asmodeus discovered a means to deliver the forge to Tas'dvr Mout as a reward for Raxcvillibus's loyal service over nearly two centuries.
The Maze Furnace operates at an exceptionally high temperature. Contained within the furnace is an imprisoned primordial of fire known as Inferno. Baphomet captured this entity during the Abyssal Release ( 7777 DE - 8777 DE ) . The name "Maze Furnace" is derived from the intricate network of tubes and chambers that form a labyrinth with no exit. The forge's heat is generated by manipulating this maze through the operation of levers. This enrages the trapped primordial, causing it to emit a substantial amount of heat. After a period, this intense heat enables the Maze Furnace to melt blutium in a quarter of the time required by a conventional forge.
"I acquired that item during my third expedition to the Hells. We discovered it in one of Baphomet's strongholds and transported it back to Nessus on the back of a demon the size of a mammoth. The creature was a simple-minded brute, eager to assist anyone who provided it sustenance. However, it became too expensive to maintain, so Asmodeus ordered it terminated."
With an unusual tinge of melancholy for one of the undead, the patient then remarked, "He ought to have been returned if that was their wish."
