After Tiamat's defeat in the First Dragon Wake (218 GE - 235 GE), numerous former non-demon adversaries were pardoned by the Covenant. This swampy locale became the abode of some of Tiamat's ex-soldiers, the most notable being three black and two green dragons. Youthful at the time, by the midpoint of the Lith-Crillion Era, they were renowned as the Scheming Five, operating gambling dens, peddling poisons, engaging in the slave trade, extortion, and generally causing a nuisance to all in their vicinity. Eventually parting ways as autonomous crime bosses, they undertook a series of conflicts, decimating their enterprises and leaving everyone constantly looking over their shoulders. Weary of the skullduggery, the green dragons relinquished their interests, shifting operations northward into Marzaaniik Gosvah. The black dragons and their minions maintained sway over the area until the demise of the black dragon Emelach in 863 HE.
The largest dominion of the region, a den of vice where all manner of goods and services are available, is the city-state of Valdrek Jusk.
