Marzaaniik Gosvah, a region known in the Draconic tongue as the Shrieking Wood, is a lush, evergreen forest nestled within the Aerie of Dragons. Situated on a plateau vale, the forest earned its name from a species of bird whose piercing shriek unsettles even the most stalwart of creatures. Across the Sendaar Jusk settlements inhabited by Kobolds and the lands of Ashmerthoon, these birds are prized as a delicacy. Nothing goes to waste, as the bones are fashioned into arrow heads that produce a haunting whine, while the feathers have long been incorporated into the vibrant clothing styles of the region's indigenous population.
The rugged terrain of Shrieking Wood, carved by gullies, provides ample concealment. Attributed to hunting parties seeking the forest's renowned avian species, the area harbors numerous perilous elements, from banditry to an overpopulation of monstrous creatures, with spiders being the most prevalent. Within the northern reaches of the forest, mountain trolls and two-headed trolls reside, the latter being byproducts of Ashmerthoon experiments. Additionally, the forest is home to dire grizzlies, immense dire wolves, and an abundance of Ettercaps. Regarded as the forest's "boogeymen," harrowing tales are told of these spider-like beings, recounting how an Ettercap can consume an entire Kobold in a single sitting, and others being used as sustenance for the pet hunting spiders, rivaling horses in size.
When the empire of Ashmerthoon resolved to engage in armed conflict with Viing Prolgiid, they opted to traverse this woodland as an alternative to confronting its numerous perils
The forest is likewise renowned for possessing a diverse array of resources utilized in the production of various toxins. Two prime examples include the tree sap of the local Dark Treant and the substantial venom collections of the resident ettercap.
