The artifact known as the
Spark of Creation, combined with the ability to
warp matter
extracted from the
Decomposition String, imbued a mundane tree with extraordinary capabilities. The tree was granted the gift of movement, an intellect rivaling that of bipedal creatures, and a clear sense of purpose.
Ares, during his tenure within the Covenant Internal Affairs - "Treant" division
The Covenant's war effort was bolstered by the creation of additional treants. These beings were assigned the role of intelligence gathering, forming a network known as the Roots of Núlananya. The seeds dispersed by these "spy treants" would eventually give rise to the more common variety of treants, devoid of the warp matter that enabled their rift-manipulating sorcery.
Treants of the realm are categorized according to their tree type, with
Ironhue
treants possessing remarkable toughness, and the black oak treants of
Logor
exhibiting exceptional strength. Meanwhile, the
Firebrand
treants are immune to fire. The warp matter of their ancestry has resulted in some becoming a corrupted form, such as the dark treants of
Gambriath.
The tree sap of treants, both living and dead, can be used to make potions like strength, fire resistance, healing, growth, giant strength, plant control, and many others. What type they can be used for depends on the treant type.
