Voternil Taurelin Ohtarion

This region is named for its majestic trees, towering mammoths so tall and broad that some serve as roosts for fey towns, lairs of great raptors, or the nomadic retreats of the wood elves who inhabit the area. These tree settlements are constructed within the trees themselves, with chambers and passages meticulously hollowed out using druidic magic or the painstaking skills honed over decades and centuries by the region's oldest elven clans, botanical experts adept at guiding the trees' growth.

Near the dawn of the First Epoch, the region became a refuge for elves fleeing Turgon, an isle overwhelmed by demonic forces. This Turgon Exodus ( 13 - 25 ) transported Kriavfahliil and wood elves to the western shores of High Wood.

In the Second Epoch, the reactivation of an ancient Lith-Crillion structure known as the Pyramid of Nature has led to considerable growth in the region's vegetation. On the edge of this activity lie the Tendrils - vines, thickets, and rapidly growing vegetation that are probing from the central mass into neighboring regions and even down into the dark reaches below. This central mass is referred to as the Taurquion Forest. Angrod's neighbors view this forest as an "invasive" force. There are two predominant schools of thought - those who believe it is a natural phenomenon, and those who believe the Angrod's are using it as a weapon, perhaps even harboring a desire to see the land covered in forests. The dwarves of the Clans Region, west and south of High Wood, claim the elves are feeding the forest spirits, spreading the Taurquion in all directions in an attempt to dominate the entire landmass and transform the continent into an elven paradise.

In addition to elves, the High Wood is inhabited by countless fey beings - Pixie, Sprite, Unicorn, Centaur, Thorn, Treants, Satyr, Brownie, and numerous others.

In the northern reaches lies the legendary dwelling of the wood elf druidess Aredhel. Once a mortal, she Ascended in this land, rendering Nelrenael, her former mortal abode, a sacred place for her devoted worshippers.

The subterranean realm situated directly beneath High Wood is designated as Menortamon.
