Built during the Demon Spawn War (89 GE - 269 GE) by the Hedge Legion, Glanningol was a Covenant fortress situated in sector Taurelin. Under the command of generals such as Silvanus, the personnel stationed there were tasked with eliminating marauding bands of demons, many of whom served the demon lord Yeenoghu.
In Glanningol's construction, the Hedge Legion created dense thickets and briars from the shores of Lake Lethiel to the western foothills of Thranerch. Two centuries of spells, hardening trees, sharpening briars, and creating deep tangles resulted in permanent damage to the area's connection to the Web of Magic. This gave rise to a region known as the Hedge Embrasures, with Glanningol serving as the anchor. Within this area, which later became a city, the energies of the world of Kriav seeped through, heightening the local nature energy. This led to occasional population booms of fey creatures and made the plant life up to 20% hardier than normal. However, after the Demon Spawn War, the maze-like Hedge Embrasures rendered Glanningol an unsuitable place to live, and the once-bustling city was left to the wilds, becoming an overgrown ruin.
In 419, the Angrods reclaimed the dilapidated ruins. They delved into forgotten scrolls and tomes, mastering the techniques to coax plant-life into forming verdant, living walls and structures. Armed with this newfound knowledge, they set to work shaping winding paths and roads through the Hedge Embrasures leading to the city.
