In the Second Epoch, the High Wood Quake (9 War March 1251) ravaged a region of northern Voternil. Consequently, this event led to the desertification of a sliver of the Taurquion forest and the creation of the desolate wasteland Baranarth.
In the year 1562, priestesses of the deity Sehanine traveled to the realm of Cresting Spires and returned with Cresting Vats. This monumental undertaking was the result of an arrangement between the goddess Sehanine and the primordial god Poseidon. One component of this agreement stipulated that water would flow from Cresting Spires to wherever the Cresting Vats were placed on Bal-Kriav. The contract also stipulated that water elementals would periodically pass through the vats, and no measures should be taken to restrict their occasional use of these portals.
