Turgon once housed civilizations of wood elves, concentrated in the region of Lossëhelin, gray elves along the coastlines, and the dominant Graagvrii and Vedrii tribes north of Ashemhorn.
In the Dawn Era, around 6000 DE, numerous eggs were deposited within the Coremeen marsh. Each egg contained a Graagvrii. This was part of a survivalist experiment, orchestrated to ascertain their capacity for independent sustenance. The mastermind behind this endeavor was Semuanya, the progenitor of the Graagvrii race. Semuanya championed the ideals of survival of the fittest, but his primary objective was to disseminate his people far and wide, affording them the optimal chance of weathering the great war of the Dawn Era.
In the Demon Spawn War (89 GE - 269 GE), a Vedrii unit led by a demonic commander under Baphomet, invaded Turgon. They engaged in combat with the Graagvrii. The arrival of the wood elves emerged from this conflict. This Covenant unit assisted the Graagvrii in turning the tide against the Vedrii and their demonic allies. Following the war, the wood elves settled in Turgon's southern regions, while the Vedrii established residency alongside the Graagvrii, whom they regarded with disdain.
In the Lith-Crillion Era, gray elves from the world Kriav were sent to reside here. They were Gwildath colonists. The gray elves and their offshoots settled along the coasts, constructing impressive port cities such as Celanil, Nénharma, Cirongwathir, and formidable coastal strongholds like Gilthoniel.
In Year 10 of the First Epoch, the Phael-Tetramord War (10 - 25) commenced. Turgon's elven states unified against the scaly hordes of the Tetramord. The conflict took a detrimental turn when a group of elves decided to seek external assistance. This summoning gave rise to the Ungorth Reddik Road, a rift connecting the world Bal-Kriav with the demonic realm Abyssm. A demonic invasion emerged from this gateway, driving the elves away, an evacuation that came to be known as the Turgon Exodus (13 - 25).
Today, Turgon is home to beings alien to the world around them, most native or descended from those who migrated from Abyssm. These are creatures with a demonic heritage or infused with abyssal energies. In the wetlands of Coremeen lies the Ungorth Reddik Road, the source of these abyssal entities. Following the departure of the elves and subjugation of the Tetramord, Turgon became the domain of one of the Abyss's most formidable demon lords, the dreadful Demogorgon.
The terrain of Turgon is warped by abyssal energies. The island is frequently battered by Evil Weather - unnaturally frigid winds, acidic precipitation, and other calamitous occurrences. Fortunately for the surrounding lands and seas, this is contained by the Turgon Boundary Ward. This magical force field fluctuates in its shape, rendering sea travel in the area particularly treacherous. On multiple occasions, vessels venturing into the Abyss-tainted waters near Turgon have been subjected to attacks and destruction by the island's demons.
