The Roots of Núlananya was an intelligence network constructed in the Dawn Era by a Covenant colonel named Silvanus. It comprised treants dispersed across numerous worlds in the Mortal Systems, primarily concentrated in the Quara'tun System. Within this binary star system, they served under the Nawirrûs Covenant. During the Creation War (1486 DE - 8777 DE), they gathered intelligence on the primordials and, under Silvanus's covert directives, collected information on the Covenant's leadership.
Sivanus's creation of the Treant race was accomplished using minute motes of life energy known as Sparks of Creation. To expedite the process and grant them unique abilities, he also infused them with warp matter. The coveted special power of those treants that joined the Roots of Núlananya was a spell equivalent to Teleport Other. This power became accessible to individuals who approached these so-called "spy-treants". To activate the spy-treant's spell, one had to either know the spell or possess the innate ability to Transport Via Plants, which allowed them to teleport others to another world. For the Covenant, this enabled them to disseminate spy-treants across the worlds of entire systems.
When he imbued them with a spark of life, he forged an intimate connection between himself and each of the treants. Through this bond, he could harness clairsentient abilities and teleport to any one of them across the vast multiverse. They provided him with valuable intelligence regarding the machinations of the primordials during the Creation War and the demonic lords of the impending conflict.
Aredhel, from her book - "Father Nature"
After the Demon Spawn War (89 GE - 269 GE), the treants of this spy network retained their spells undiminished. Those ancient entities that remain are unlikely to permit anyone to leverage their magical abilities to traverse the network without a compelling justification.
