The Decomposition String is a vein of entropic energy at the core of most realms. It served as the source for the warp matter employed in crafting the world that surrounds it. Retaining ties to Chaos, some assert these realms are merely isles of equilibrium, ephemeral structures bound to the passage of time.
the Decomposition String
Sphere Creationists, from both the Covenant and Primordial factions, utilized these energy tendrils to craft worlds across the multiverse. The realm was constructed around these tendrils, and if one were to locate the origin of the string, they would find themselves in a Sea of Entropy.
Gibberdand, the esteemed Grell instructor of the School of Entropy - "Chaos Theory of the Spheres"
In the Creation War (1486 DE - 8777 DE), Silvanus sought out Tarâk in one of the many side deals. He required a cost-effective and potent source of power. Tarâk offered him as much warp matter as he desired, cautioning:
The product is inexpensive and potent, yet a manifestation of disorder. While it may provide temporary assistance, you must remember, tree-guardian, that this is pure chaos, not the refined and stabilized energy akin to the life energy empowering your staff.
Tarâk, to Silvanus - "Warp Matter Requisition"
Silvanus leveraged this anomaly in the weave to bring forth the Treant race.
The Decomposition String is so deeply embedded within the core of realms that it remains inaccessible to the majority. As the Creation War raged on, Tarâk diverted Covenant resources towards uncovering a means of descending to Bal-Kriav's tendril leading to the Void. However, this too proved to be fortified like the others, housing seemingly boundless energy, yet perilous to approach.
Tarâk's ardent desire to empower his mighty war machine surpassed his caution. In 7500 DE, an army of elemental slaves began tunneling down to Ilabizdum's Decomposition String. Three centuries later, Tarâk uncovered his objective. Nearing the Decomposition String, he and his guards were overwhelmed by entropic energy. His earth elemental miners were transformed into a type of chaos archon, becoming blutoids. It also altered his elite guards, the Slaad Hexos, into distorted versions of their original forms. Tarâk himself underwent a mutation, taking on a lithe physique akin to a Lith-Crillion, with aspects resembling an earth elemental.
Tarâk's labors did not cease following these events. After years of tireless investigation and the unfortunate demise of numerous individuals, Tarâk mastered the application of the Decomposition String for alternative functions. On 8426 DE, from a safer range and over an extended period, he transformed hundreds of his mortal subordinates into a novel species designated the Grimlock.
The Decomposition String contains particles of concentrated elemental energy referred to as warp matter. The World Splitter was powered by this material, utilizing five Warp Matter Cores. When the World Splitter crashed into Bal-Kriav, its warp matter engine sank downward, drilling towards the Decomposition String where it was then absorbed.
