Map Maegorion Forest

The Maegorion Forest lines the southwestern edge of the Giant Steps. The transformation began on 4 Bloom 1791, the day when the eco-terrorist known as Black Wood planted the Seed of Tarfilerquar. This fell relic, the heart of an evil god, rapidly grew into a twisted, castle-sized oak. It corrupted the forest and its creatures, with animals and beasts becoming dire versions over time, and stubborn treants transforming into dark treants. Unicorns, once champions of justice and goodness, became murderous black unicorns. The forest has become a realm of Dark Nature, where evil prevails.

Maegorion is the abode of ebony unicorns, dire creatures of malevolent disposition, dark treants, hags, night shades, quicklings, vampire trees, and a handful of rain linnorms. Additionally, there are transplants from Maar Gosvah, the so-called Cubs of Black Wood, deadly ironmaws numbering in the dozens.

Before the forest's corruption, it was home to Gnoll and Theegan loggers and hunters. As the forest underwent transformation, with plants becoming poisonous or malevolent in character, and former prey animals now becoming the predators, the loggers and hunters relocated. Today, even the courageous Jara steer clear of this forest.
