Founded by fire giants in 412 LE, Madragh served as the seat of power for six successive fire giant empires. The last and longest-reigning of these was the Talothand Monarchy, which spanned the years 212 HE to 780 HE. After the fall of the Talothand, Madragh fell into ruin. For the victorious Zeymah'kein, the former enemy capital proved too sprawling to maintain, and was further burdened by a long history of coups, uprisings, and assassinated rulers.
Once proclaimed the land where more fire giants dwelled than anywhere else, only a few dozen now reside there. For the remainder, Madragh is a place of ignominy, where a powerful empire and noble folk were consigned to the annals of history as the vanquished and dispersed.
Built for fire giants and their thralls, Madragh is a colossal ruin with streets delving into a mountain and others plunging into the depths below. Surrounding the city, in the cliffs, are narrow roads leading to ancient, dilapidated chateaus and sometimes their inhabitants - giant eagles and occasionally wyverns. Nature has reclaimed many areas, with trees sprouting from structures and streets. This region is home to a variety of denizens, including bandits, treasure hunters, beasts, and monsters such as cave bears, troll hounds, giant bats, leucrottas, and snowy great cats, among others even more perilous. The ruin also shelters organized groups, with the far northeastern part claimed by Mayhem, a cell of Entropy. They control the mountain pass north into the Sands of Hell.
