Once a wide, verdant vale of forests and tall grasslands, the landscape was irrevocably altered in 4500 DE during the Battle of Stafknir Hrerbjof. In that contested land, the dying breath of the legendary dragon Golruwyrm, bolstered by the blood of her father Bruh Kreniik, devastated nearly an entire primordial army and claimed the lives of its two leaders, the primordial lords Buldapulax and Kurrolath.

One of the peoples left behind after the downfall of their Primordial overlords were the Xorn. As refugees on an alien world, unable to fully adapt to the planet's Energy Composition, their bodies grew crystalline cysts in protest. Approximately three centuries later, these cysts were discovered to possess the properties of deep crystal, serving as reservoirs for psychic energy and holding great significance for both sides of the Creation War. At the time, with psychic energy being of interest to both factions, a primordial lord named Storralk became the master of a windswept landscape of great sand dunes, desolation, and forgotten ruins. Under Storralk's command, the Knudmid were tasked with harvesting Xorn Cysts.

In the Lith-Crillion Era, elements of Sâlo Tânê 7 forged an alliance with the Knudmid. Impressed by their new companions, whether through magical sway or years of indoctrination, or by careful planning, the Knudmid constructed grand monuments to a civilization widely venerated as brilliant guardians; the most colossal being the Pyramids of Life.

Approximately around 1000 LE, the Knudmid began to lose faith in their "gods". Legendary locust plagues, escalating sand worm attacks, and alluvial storms were exacting a significant toll. A decade after abandoning the Lith-Crillion, in 1011 LE, the Knudmid endured the Stone Curse, a cataclysmic event that devastated their civilization. To this day, travelers in the desert sometimes encounter colossal, lifelike statues; victims of the Stone Curse, exquisite finds that adorn the grand chambers of distant castles and palaces, while tens of thousands remain interred beneath the sands.

Nestled amidst four distinct regions, the Sands of Hells is a scorching and frequently windswept desert. One of the more peculiar atmospheric phenomena is the Winds of Golruwyrm. Beyond the hazards posed by these unusual gusts, the most perilous inhabitants of the area are the primordial sand worms, leviathans that can reach twice the size of the formidable purple worms.

Near the heart of the Sands of Hell lies the Viiz Bo. This river, carving a north-to-south path across a rugged, dune-swept landscape, serves as a vital trade route connecting the northern domains of the Toomrur Hegemony and the distant southern reaches of Ag Envok and beyond.
