Beginning in 1000 LE, the Knudmid endured formidable locust infestations and a rapidly increasing population of primordial sand worms. They beseeched the Lith-Crillion, a civilization they held in high esteem. With their "deities" reluctant to provide aid, the Knudmid started to waver in their beliefs.
In the year 1011 LE, the Knudmid people were afflicted by a devastating magical curse. Each morning, the so-called Stone Curse transformed a random female Knudmid into stone. The only females to escape this terrible fate were those residing within or near Alluvium Deep. Across the vast expanse of the Sands of Hell, countless statues of Knudmid women lie buried beneath the endless dunes.
