Founded by a Lith-Crillion research group called Sâlo Tânê 6, the site chosen for their Khimilêth settlement was the unforgiving northern tracts of the Sands of Hell. Its founders were tasked with finding ways to transform deserts, wastelands, and blighted areas into verdant landscapes. During the construction of the Pyramid of Life, Khimilêth expanded from a large workforce. The most skilled of these workers were the Knudmid, a sand giant people with an extensive history of erecting grand structures.

In the Second Epoch, Khimilêth became the haven for Khazarkars seeking religious freedom and equality. Exiles from the Khazarkar Empire, they opposed the empire's monotheistic theocracy dedicated to Set and the rigid Khazarkar caste system, seeking liberty beyond the machinations of the empire's elite Minâth-Nôrî caste.

Khimilêth is safeguarded by three formidable defenses - a scorching, unforgiving desert to the south, the perilous obstacles of Hullbreaker, and the protective powers of the Pyramid of Life. These fortifications have long prevented the city from falling to the Khazarkar Empire and those covetous of the fertile lands surrounding its mystical pyramid.

Unlike the Khazarkar Empire, the Khazarkars of Khimilêth are not constrained by caste, possessing the freedom to intermarry across castes and with other races. The city welcomes the presence of any church, with the majority paying reverence to Bahamut, Geb, and Kebechet.
