Theegans were created in the Dawn Era by the Creationist god Benevolence. They were dispersed across three of the worlds within the Asteraoth system. During the Creation War, two of these worlds succumbed to the primordials, with one completely consumed by the Master of Tides. By the war's conclusion, only the Theegans on Osâchar remained. One of the most renowned Theegans is Ares, a future Higher Power who battled the Masters of Tides and perished. However, the god Bal-Kriav resurrected Ares, whose martial skills were sorely needed in the Creation War. Consequently, many Theegans took to worshiping Ares.

The Theegans are an alien human race native to Bal-Kriav. As enslaved individuals, they arrived in this world during the Horgon Era aboard the Spire of Krak-Oth. When this extraterrestrial vessel traversed the Void, departing their homeworld Osâchar, they found themselves in the northern regions of Grashakh.

On Bal-Kriav, like on Osâchar, the Theegans served as slaves to the Durkoth and their Saint of Maen. Over several centuries, the Durkoth and their slave population expanded westward into the Tribe Steppes. During the Durkoth Descent (995 HE - 1355 HE), the masters of many peoples departed the surface for the southern seas. The Theegans, once minions of the Durkoth, now found themselves as their own masters. They migrated from the highlands of Grashakh eastward into the lands of the Tribe Steppes.

In the vast expanse of the Tribe Steppes, with its rolling hills and plains, the Theegans embraced the horse as their primary mode of travel and warfare. Their reverence for this animal was such that they erected icons and statues in its honor. While most of the people prayed to Krak-Oth as their god, by the Year 43, cults of horse-worship were beginning to gain prominence in their religious affairs. The strongest of these cults was located in Emeldimir. Angered by this divergence of faith, Krak-Oth cursed the worshippers of the horse, transforming them into grotesque centaur aberrations. These beasts became known as the Jara, a name derived from the most well-known of the horse cults. For decades after this curse, they unleashed havoc on those they once resembled, murdering, raping, and plundering the Theegans' holdings with reckless abandon. To escape these ravages, most Theegans of the Tribe Steppes migrated to the Skycius and Zyrath sectors of the Northern Hordelands region.

The Theegans are commonly referred to as barbarians by the majority of other races. Their tumultuous nature and dark past likely contribute to their perceived barbaric tendencies. Within their communities, the Theegans have shamans and witches who offer prayers and encourage others to pay reverence to the spirits of the land. Some tribes venerate dragons, while most worship the deity Ares.

The Theegans are concentrated in the Northern Hordelands, where many serve the Witch Horde. They have an average height of 5'5" and weigh approximately 160 lbs. Their skin exhibits a rich, brown hue adorned with verdant patterns, providing them with an exceptionally effective camouflage for the plains and woodlands. Theegan eyes range in color from deep brown to vivid green and onyx black. Notably, they lack any hair growth across their physique.

At an early age, the Theegans are trained to battle from horseback. As such, the riding proficiency of the Theegans is among the finest on Brucrumus.

The Theegans are some of the most accomplished equestrians I have ever observed. In certain clans, Theegan mothers deliver their children while situated in the saddle - which has given rise to the adage "born in the saddle". They appear to be intrinsically synchronized with their mounts and can intuit the capabilities and limitations of their steeds. Owing to this intuitive connection, they can compel their mounts to greater velocities and understand precisely how far to push a steed before safely returning home.

Colonel Ilurûs Gudyazas, excerpt from "Way of the Theegan Horse Masters"

The Theegans of Fros Idar are renowned for their expertise in training hippogriffs. Akin to their ground-dwelling counterparts, their abilities in piloting these birds of prey are the stuff of legend. During the Buruthran War (1824 - 1829), hippogriff-mounted warriors posed a persistent challenge to supply lines heading northward into the Northern Hordelands.
