In the First Epoch, gnolls constructed a commercial settlement on the northern aspect of an immense cavity known as Yeenoghus Spittoon. They christened this settlement in honor of General Kugirmuk, the esteemed concubine general of the demon lord Yeenoghu.

Notorious for giving the Gnoll people a poor reputation, in 780, the lawless town of Kugirmuk, a den of debauchery and recipient of Yeenoghus Spittoon's plunders, was conquered by the Yagamph Republic (746 - 956). The Yagamph, comprising so-called enlightened gnolls, sought to restore the town's image and mend relationships with prospective trading partners in the depths beyond Yeenoghus Spittoon, along the shores of the Heliotrope Sea.

In the Second Epoch, Kugirmuk was a member of the Garormuk Federation. Embroiled in the Witch-Pack War (1190 - 1240) on the western edge of the Federation's territories, it inevitably succumbed to the Witch Horde in the Year 1235.

In 1829, Kugirmuk succumbed to the Luran Alliance. After the tumultuous Buruthran War (1824 - 1829), it was assimilated into the domain of the mighty Divine Empire.

Via pathways, lifts, and a road, Kugirmuk is connected to the subterranean citadel of Phure-Zil. One of the merchandise items that traverses these two strongholds is the Tears of Achamâz, sacred stones destined for the Lands of Purity.
