The Hlothangi Insurgency (740 - 746) culminated in the fall of the Drugnod Dynasty (546 - 746). The council that had long served the Drugnods then transitioned into the Yagamph Republic, becoming the voice for their respective territories and special interests such as commerce, mineral rights, and nomadic pursuits.
Like the Drugnod Dynasty, Yagamph served as a stabilizing influence in the Northern Hordelands. They brought order and civility to a rugged territory, temporarily pacifying the Theegan of the Witch Horde and restraining the Jara of the north.
Yagamph gradually succumbed to corruption and the chaotic tendencies of its people; the Gnoll of today's Garormuk attribute this to a population with goblins in the majority. After two nearly consecutive civil wars, the republic began to crumble. As conflict raged across the territories, tribal interests resurfaced, and its collective strength diminished. Seizing the opportunity presented by their neighbor's misfortune, the Witch Horde played a role in destabilizing their neighbor through raiding and funding the tribes seeking to return to their nomadic ways.
By the year 956, the republic had disintegrated into a mere nominal government, with warring tribes and independent city-states emerging across the land.
