Howling Wind was established by a group of consummate conjurers and demonologists. Their darkest deed was when they used the Book of Infernal Secrets to summon a cunning demon named Yack-Leban, tricking him into thinking he was of a lesser demon. Howling Wind then went on to summon other demons, disseminating discord and chaos across Yagamph lands.
When Yack-Leban accumulated sufficient power, he turned against the mages of the Howling Wind. Only 4 of the 14 wizards who had summoned him managed to survive his murderous onslaught. The remaining mages fled westward, taking refuge in the desolate Yagolorn wastes. In this region, they joined forces with Theegan's bandits. They traded secrets from the Book of Infernal Secrets with Theegan conjurers, securing protection and a place to practice their arts across the underground bases of Yagolorn.
Howling Wind still retains the Book of Infernal Secrets. Multiple spells have emerged from this archaic volume, including Wall of Ooze, Evil Weather, and Death by Thorns.
Howling Wind possesses several subterranean outposts accessible via a tunnel branching off the Cysts of Morebhox.
