The Cysts of Morebhox are three giant sinkholes in the desolate, chaos-infused wasteland of Yagolorn. During the Creation War, a fierce battle was fought here between Ares and the largest centipede ever conceived. The beast, named Morebhox, was a creature of chaos, born from the primordial destructive will of Chaos. Its creator was the primordial warlord Krerax. In one of the primordial assaults on Bal-Kriav, Krerax mounted his centipede abomination and proceeded to lay low any mortal, angel, or god in his path, while his mount devoured all vegetation, corpses, and anything smaller than itself. Ares, riding his Chariot of Hrafnel pulled by six flaming lizards, engaged Krerax and Morebhox in the area of Yagolorn. Krerax's massive petrified arm still lies in Yagolorn, while the rest of his body was slowly consumed by the creatures of the wild over the course of two years. Morebhox, the centipede mount, was killed in the battle, its body severed in three places by massive trap-like structures the size of towers. These blades released an acidic blood that burned deep into the ground, melting the native feldspar and granite and giving rise to the three giant sinkholes known as the Cysts of Morebhox.
The three sinkholes comprising the Cysts of Morebhox measure approximately a mile in diameter and descend 800' to 1200' to a rubble-strewn floor. Tunnels and paths line the slopes, leading into the Underdark and to shallow tunnels. These areas provide a haven from the relentless storms and creatures that roam Yagolorn. Many of the tunnels were constructed by Theegan bandits, who utilize the region to ambush the treasure hunters emerging from Briltarn.
The mage guild Howling Wind maintains subterranean outposts in the surrounding region.
